So, if I want to donate toys to "Toys for Tots" so that needy children can have toys on Christmas - the day that we observe the coming of Jesus into the world - I need to make sure that I don't give any gifts that might be taken as too Christian in nature? Not long ago there was a lot of talk about the disease known as foot and mouth disease. This disease is highly contagious and cows and pigs are especially susceptible to it although humans rarely get it. Even though people aren't likely to get foot and mouth disease, we are especially vulnerable to what is known as "foot in mouth" disease. Do you believe in absolute truth? What I mean is, do you believe that God has established a set standard of right and wrong in this world? Many would say that such a standard is unrealistic because truth has many different sides to it. But can that be true? Can truth be true for one person and not another? Would that still make it true? A common example of this truth question can be seen in the studies on safe sex. Those who favor abstinence-only sex education argue that abstinence is the only sure-fire method to use if one wants to prevent unwanted pregnancies and the transmission of STD's and HIV.
